Ruben van Wyk was born in Edenville, Free State, on 18 June 1950. After an early retirement due to
an hearing disability he spent most of his time in public library’s reading books.

His wife, Dorothy van Wyk, was a major influence in his interest in art - after noticing her major improvement in her art. He had developed an intense desire to invest his time in Painting.

He decided to exchange his habit of reading into something that simulates his right brain - a shift that he find much more enjoyable.

At the end of 2021 he was Fully committed in exploring his new hobby and seeking his fullest potential.
